Lutheran Youth Serve Omaha

Simply put, Lutheran Youth Serve Omaha (LYSO) is a revamped summer VBS type program with a focus on servanthood!

Each day, participants gather for breakfast, devotions, and music and then are sent out to participate in a variety of Service Projects in the community.

LYSO is designed for children and youth in grades K -12th (must have completed Kindergarten). The event is hosted by Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church in cooperation with other urban cluster churches, and is offered to all ELCA congregations within the Omaha community.

Go, and Do Likewise

Daily devotions, reflections, and faith-formation instruction are integrated into the Large Group Gathering times. Youth are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, use their hands to do God's work, and reflect on the positive personal changes they witness within themselves.

Team-building activities are incorpo- rated into the program to allow stu- dents to make new friends, build relationships, and develop a sense of self- worth. Participants realize their efforts, no matter how big or small, how obvi- ous or hidden, still matter to those in need. Most of all, youth learn those ef- forts ultimately glorify God!
