The youth groups of St. Matthew Lutheran Church meet once a month to participate in a variety of exciting activities and service projects.

SENIOR YOUTH

The Senior Youth Group consists of high school kids, grades 9 through 12.  This group of young adults meets at least once a month to participate in several activities ranging from service projects, to fundraisers towards their annual Workcamp Mission Trip, and simply hanging out with each other.  Yearly service projects include the Omaha Crop Walk, delivering presents with the Salvation Army to elderly residents of Omaha, and collecting food for Project Hope’s Food Pantry.  Fellowship activities include bowling, an annual lock-in, movies, and camping.

Each summer, members of the Senior Youth Group have the opportunity to attend the annual Workcamp Mission Trip.  Each of the youth rally together through fundraisers, dinners, and other exciting activities, in order to raise funds for the mission trip.  Once at their worksites, the youth spend a week helping to repair and rebuild the homes of elderly and needy residents.  A few of the past mission trip destinations include Red Lake, MN; Hammond, IN; Canton, OH; and Lexington, TN.

A-TEENS

The Alpha Teens, also known as the A-TEENS, are a youth group that provides fun activities and service projects for junior high kids, grades 6 through 8.  A few of the service activities the youth participated in this past year include the Omaha Crop Walk, delivering Valentines to St. Matthew shut-ins, placing flags on the headstones of veterans, and clean-up of the church grounds for Earth Day weekend.  The A-Teens also enjoy exciting activities such as bowling, putt-putt golf, movies, a yearly lock-in, and a trip to Adventureland.

KFC's

“Kids For Christ” is a group for our younger youth in 3rd - 5th grade.  This rambunctious group gets together once a month for fellowship and service to the church and greater community through several activities.  Their service projects include organizing snack-sacks and birthday bags for the Project Hope Food Pantry, clean-up of neighborhood parks and trails, and creating Christmas cards for residents at local nursing centers.  The fellowship activities include visits to Camp Carol Joy Holling, bowling, and a trip to the go-kart races in Greenwood.
